More milling powered by the sun
☀️ We've talked in the past about our commitment to maximising our use of green energy, and we have now completed another milestone in our solar project.
We’ve just installed almost 2,000 solar panels across our sites as part of Wright’s ongoing investment in sustainability and energy efficiency.
At Harlow, the new panels will generate 1 gigawatt of electricity each year. To put that in perspective, that’s the equivalent of powering around 300 homes annually.
It won’t cover all of Harlow’s needs (it’s a big site with high demand), but every kilowatt of renewable energy takes more carbon out of our footprint.
At our Delta Park site, the panels are expected to generate enough electricity to cover all of the site’s demand during the summer months, and around 50% of its usage across the year.
Flour milling is an energy-intensive process, so every step towards reducing consumption and improving efficiency matters.
These investments help us continue producing high-quality flour while working towards increasingly ambitious environmental targets.
