A skilled and reliable Miller is required for G R Wright & Sons Ltd, able to work across the two milling sites. Reporting to the Head Miller, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected and long-standing flour milling business with a proud history and forward-thinking approach.
The Company
G.R Wright & Sons is a flour milling company based in Harlow and Ponders End. It’s a six-generation family business that makes and sells flour and mixes to all sectors of the food industry, with an enviable reputation for quality and service.
The business supplies a wide range of flours to bakeries, wholesalers, food manufacturers, and major retailers. Wrights is very much a family business with a “family feel” and a friendly culture. Many staff members have worked in the business for decades. The company recently completed a major investment in a state-of-the-art, purpose-built flour mill in Harlow. The original site in Ponders End continues to operate, producing speciality flours. A third site in Enfield houses a modern bakery ingredients facility focused on flour-based mixes and concentrates.
Job Role
Key responsibilities include:
Safe and efficient operation of the flour mill, including plant start-up and shutdown.
Monitoring and running associated systems such as compressors, boilers, central vacuum, and air makeup.
Maximising throughput and extraction rates in line with production KPIs.
Performing accurate flour and wheat quality checks to meet specifications.
Routine mill maintenance to support food safety, quality and operational plans.
Cleaning, checking, sampling, and accurate record-keeping of mill activity.
Operating and overseeing bulk flour transfer and warehouse dispatch systems.
Monitoring and managing wheat cleaning, conditioning and feed transfer.
Supporting and liaising with the engineering team to maintain plant performance.
Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety and Food Safety procedures at all times.
Proactively identifying hazards and maintaining high housekeeping standards.
Inspecting and monitoring Critical Control Points (CCPs).
Taking responsibility for environmental impact, and reducing waste where possible.
