Wright's Launch New Cake Products

G.R. Wright & Sons Ltd, the only independent miller in Greater London, has been trading since 1867 at Ponders End Mills. 

Due to the success of our bread mixes we are tremendously proud to launch 3 new additions in the form of Wright's Cake Mixes. We have carefully developed a Ginger cake mix, a Madeira, a Carrot cake mix, Toffee cake mix.

We have spent the last year developing a cake mix suitable for making by hand or best of all, bread making machine!  The simplicity of achieving a delicious cake with our mixes is that you just add water and oil - NO EGG - no need for different expensive ingredients, no messing about weighing and little input with beating. As this is an oil based cake rather than butter, it is supposedly better for you and your cholesterol.

The cakes can be baked in a 2lb loaf tin, if making by hand or 2lb bread-making machine simply by selecting the cake programme.  If your machine does not have a cake programme, select the dough cycle to mix for approximately 20 minutes (then switch the machine to bake).  After baking in a machine, please leave your cake for 10 minutes before shaking it out onto a wire to cool. 

The baked cakes are of an exceptional quality - the type you have come to expect from us at Wright's - so you can expect a masterpiece every time.    

Our Ginger cake is of a rich quality, similarly described as an American Velvet Cake.  Prepared with the finest flours, unrefined brown sugar and delicious spices, this cake has a dark velvety texture.

Our Madeira cake mix - incidentally, what came first the chicken or the egg?  I mean what came first Madeira cake or Madeira wine?  Apparently one was created to complement the other.  It is so simple as are all our mixes just the addition of oil and water a few minutes is all that is needed to produce a delicious, traditional Madeira cake with a subtle vanilla flavour.

Our Carrot cake - is the third new member of this superb new range. Again with simplicity in mind, the carrot is contained in the mix, which means there is no need to scrub, peel and grate carrot prior to making and baking your cake.

Our Chocolate Fudge cake creates a deliciously rich, indulgent moist eating cake - due mainly to the real chocolate crumb used in the mix.  This mix can uniquely be used in a bread making machine with the addition of just oil and water.  This is appealing to the huge army of bread machine users in the UK. 

Our Toffee cake contains real toffee pieces to produce a moist and subtle Toffee cake with a terrific flavour and a golden tan.  This can again be made by hand or in a bread making machine.

Obviously, I have enjoyed the trials enormously and haven't had a cold cake for months - can't wait for the bake!
