Wright's win Evening Standard Award - Manufacturer of the Year
07 November 2004 00:00

Wright's have recently won Manufacturer of the Year at the London Business Awards in November.
G.R. Wright & Sons Ltd, flour millers at Ponders End - London's last flour miller and Enfield's oldest business - scooped up in the London Business Awards in the category of Manufacturer of the Year last night at the Intercontinental Hotel.
Mary Nightingale awarded David Wright - Managing Director, Alan Cave -Production Director, Lesley Morris - Finance Director and Chris Wyle - Technical Director with a beautiful crystal trophy.
Wright's have been milling since 1867 and is a five-generation family business working on a site on which there has been a flour mill since 1067. Part of the success has come since the company launched a range of home baking mixes that are available in all the UK supermarkets and more recently in supermarkets across continental Europe. They are complete mixes that make high quality bread and cakes using a bread machine or by hand.
Wright's now produce 13 different varieties of bread mixes from Premium White to Organic Stoneground Wholemeal, the very popular Parmesan & Sundried Tomato bread mix and their latest, Cheese & Onion and a range of cake mixes.
The award ceremony, now in its second year was sponsored by KPMG, The Evening Standard and ITV London. The Judging Panel was made up of business people from the Former Chairman of Sainsbury's to last year's Business Person of 2003. Chris Blackhurst of the Evening Standard said, "The Judges were impressed with the winner's continued investment in the future. An established family business constantly trying to be innovative, flexible and adaptable and successfully moving with the times."
