05 October 2014

Wow what a wonderful time we had at this year’s Cake & Bake Show in London’s Earls Court.  Thanks to all of you who visited our stand 176 – just opposite the Competition Theatre.

On Friday the stand was manned by Richard, Mark, Claire, Peter, Gary and Myron who had been busy baking all the beautiful breads and cakes for us to display.

The Competition Theatre we jointly sponsored with California Prunes showed Claire Toynton with her Toffee Apple Upside Down Cake and Amanda Fuller with her Carrot & Pineapple Cake with vanilla buttercream topping.   The bakes were judged by Peter Sidwell and Wendi Peters pictured here with Claire who won that day.

On Saturday we really appreciated the help of our PR team, Pier Marketing which enabled us – also baking addicts – to have a break and walk around the show.  Staff that day was Richard, Debbie, Simon, Alisha and myself.

The Competition Theatre showed off another terrific two cakes by Jackie Heaton for her 99 giant cupcake and Chintal Kakaya’s Cinnamon and Clove Spiced Orange cake with Coffee Buttercream Icing both used Wright’s Madeira.

This time Mich Turner and Peter Sidwell stepped in to taste and awarded Chintal the winner for her Spiced Orange Cake.

I got a picture with the lovely winner although she probably preferred having her photo taken with Peter!

I got to meet so many lovely people at the show, Mrs. Cruickshank, Karen Caplin, Lucy Green, Jackie Heaton to name but a few and someone I have wanted to meet up with for years, Edith Tanner.

Sunday the team turned up a little tired, Richard, Suzi, Chris, John along with Debbie and I for another stint but we were so pleased as we got to meet many from The Great British Bake Off!

The Competition Theatre was well attended again.  The two entrants went head to head in the Premium White challenge with Twisted Sunset Bread by Kelly Harrison against Cinnamon Bun Rounds with Katherine Cyrus.  Well done girls - cinnamon bun won! Thanks to all clever entrants, Wendi Peters for making it such fun & Peter Sidwell for being 'Britain's Best Bakery' judge!

We loved seeing all the Great British Bake Off Contestants – it was a real highlight for us at the end of an amazing show – many thanks again for coming along to see us – Deb the Bread
