As we grow, we at Wright's recognise that we have a responsibility to manage our environmental impacts and we strive to continuously improve our environmental performance by selecting the best environmental options available to us. Our key objectives in delivering our environmental management programme are as follows:
Keeping up-to-date with the requirements of the relevant environmental legislation and working with the appropriate organisations to ensure compliance. We will also work towards observing all appropriate industry guidelines and recommendations from the National Association of British and Irish Millers.
We aim to optimise the use of resources by taking a responsible approach to the sourcing and processing of our raw materials and continually seeking to improve efficiencies where we can. We will also consider the environmental impact of the goods and services that we buy.
We recognise that as a high-energy consumer we must continually seek to use energy efficient strategies in our processes. We will continue to identify more energy efficient equipment and alternative energy sources.
We purchase the most fuel efficient vehicles compatible with the work to be done and the potential for use of alternative fuels will also be regularly reviewed. Selection of transport contractors will also emphasise fuel efficiency. We will plan our deliveries to minimise food miles.
We will be vigilant in avoiding harmful emissions to the atmosphere, water and land. Our aim is to perform significantly better than the minimum legal requirements.
We will work closely with conservation specialists to improve and manage our local habitats, so that biodiversity can be encouraged.
We will always try to minimise the amount of packaging that we use. Bulk delivery, returnable packaging or alternative packaging made from environmentally sound materials should be used wherever possible.
We will minimise waste produced by analysing our processes to ensure that waste is reduced at source. We will maximise recycling quantities and minimise waste sent to landfill.
We will provide appropriate environmental training for all our staff and contractors to ensure that they understand their responsibilities in implementing our environmental policy.
Overall, we wish to ensure that environmental issues associated with changes in our business are properly considered and managed.
